Paradox San Diego Concert reviews
Lewis Black - the truth
Three days ago, I saw the show for the first time live by Paradox, and it was much more impressive than TV appearances or even full concert shows. Every minute or two, there were still wake up calls and fresh turns on accepted reality. He seemed to have a bit of a cold, maybe, but having said that, there were still wake up calls and fresh turns on accepted reality. He seemed like he had a lot of material and was doing set ups but deciding not to go there after all. It seemed like he had a lot of material and was doing set ups but deciding not to go there after all.
Yesterday, I was thinking wow, all he did was describe reality in a way that made us see it for its insanity. Mostly it was not personal and degrading for the target figures. It was their actions or ideas that were exposed. Made us see the truth rather than the fictions we are fed each day. It was adult and fair at the same time, and somehow it was funny and safe. Yesterday, I was thinking wow, all he did was describe reality in a way that made us see it for its insanity.
For instance, early in the show, he did a longish history of mental institutions and how they were thrown open in the early 80's, sequeing into the unkept promises for mental health care, and the refrain about the school shootings and mental health. He laid the groundwork but didn't close the case... just rambled away. He did some great stuff on how other countries have actual working ideas on solving social problems. It wasn't perfect, but I would go again and again. Even with the tics and the mannerisms and a certain amount of rambling, it was fresh brain food that I so seldom get.
